QD Enamel | Quick Dry Enamel

Sparcolux Quick Dry (QD) Enamel is a top quality, quick drying, high gloss industrial enamel that is suitable for both interior and exterior applications. 

Sparcolux QD Enamel can be used as a topcoat on construction, farm and industrial equipment and machinery, such as primed steel poles and pipes, cranes, trailers, pumps, compressors, steel cabinets, shelves, drum reconditioning and fencing.  This QD enamel can also be used as a  general purpose fast dry enamel overcoating wood, cement and concrete.

  • Surface must be clean, dry and free from any grease/oil or dust. Prime with Sparcolux Zinc Phosphate Primer or Sparcolux Metal Primer (Etch Primer). More detailed guidelines will be available from these Primers as to how best to prepare the substrate being coated. 

    Mild Steel: 

    • Degrease with degreaser and rinse thoroughly with fresh water
    • Sand off rust with coarse emery paper or mechanical grinding
    • Prime with Sparcolux Zinc Phosphate Primer or Sparcolux Metal Primer (Etch Primer)
     

    Galvanised steel

    • Degrease with degreaser and rinse thoroughly with fresh water
    • Prime Sparcolux Metal Primer (Etch Primer)
     

    Previously painted surfaces in good condition

    • Scrape and sand loose and flaking paint down to a sound substrate
    • Lightly sand existing paint to ensure good adhesion
    • Spot prime bare areas with Sparcolux  Zinc Phosphate Primer or Sparcolux Metal Primer


    Previously painted surfaces in poor condition

    • Completely remove paint by either scraping, coarse sanding, or preferably sandblasting. 
    • Primer determined by substrate type.
