New Wood
Sand the surface with 120-180 grit sandpaper, sanding in the direction of the wood-grain. Remove dust.
Previously varnished wood
Strip completely by deep sanding. Wipe thoroughly with clean water-damped cloth and allow drying. Sand to a smooth surface finish. Remove dust.
Previously coated with a wax sealer or oil-based wood preservative
It is not advised to varnish wood that has previously been waxed or preservative coated. Mechanically sand until raw wood is exposed with no product residue. Wipe clean with a damp mineral turpentine cloth to neutralise. Remove dust.
Weathered or Discoloured wood
Sand with a 100 grit sandpaper, removing the weather discoloured layers, to an even smooth finish. Remove dust. Alternatively treat wood with a Wood Reviving product. Allow drying. Sand to a smooth finish. Remove dust.
Previously painted wood
Strip completely by deep sanding or by using a paint stripper for wood. Wipe thoroughly with clean water-damped cloth and allow drying. Sand bare wood to a smooth surface finish. Remove dust.
