Wood Primer

Sparcolux Wood Primer is a top quality penetrating primer and sealer for new and weathered interior and exterior unpainted wood, MDF, chipboard, hardboard and hardwoods.

This oil-based product seals, protects and promotes enhanced topcoat performance (water-based or oil-based topcoats) through improved adhesion and coverage. This quality Wood Primer fills wood grain, is self-levelling and can be sanded to an even smoother finish

This Wood Primer has a wide range of uses and can be used on: wooden skirtings, doors, windows, shutters, window sills, furniture, cupboards, ceiling beams, fascias, pergolas, fences, garden sheds and dog kennels.

  • SURFACE PREPARATION

    This product is suitable for all wood types, but not recommended for use on highly resinous woods.  Ensure all substrates are thoroughly clean, sound, dry and free from any contaminants such as dirt, oil, grease and loose paint.  


    New and Weathered Woods:

    The surface must be clean and dry. 

    Old paint or varnish and loose and brittle material must be brushed or sanded off. 

    Sand wood in the direction of the grain to ensure a smooth finish. 

    Dust off thoroughly.

    Oiled Woods:

    Sand wood in the direction of the grain to ensure a smooth finish. 

    Dust off thoroughly.

    Nail ends:

    Prime nail ends with appropriate primer,  if required
